The Free Forge

Forging the future - Living freedom

Sudbury Schulen

“Die Freie Schmiede” (The Free Forge) in the Fünfseenland region (Bavaria)  is an extracurricular educational center for children and young people where they can live out their creativity, freely pursue their interests and their joy of playing, and experience a supportive community.

Learning and living

In everyday school life, the focus is on knowledge transfer and fulfilling requirements. Young people often experience low self-efficacy, find little support, and the focus is usually on weaknesses rather than strengths. In a time when technology is becoming increasingly dominant in our daily lives, and AI is getting dangerously close to human nature, it is essential that people know their strengths, can develop their potential, experience themselves as the architects of their own lives, and learn to cope with the challenges of our time.

The Freie Schmiede offers a valuable space for development and experience, thus providing balance, a place of inspiration – far removed from guidelines, judgments, comparisons, and coercion. It is a place where, above all, they feel comfortable, can freely organize their time, and where everyone can learn to take responsibility for themselves and the community in a cooperative environment.

The extracurricular program is aimed at young people aged 5 to approximately 19 years and includes opening hours until the evening hours as well as weekend activities.

Events, creative offers,
Academy, CoWorkingSpace

The Freie Schmiede is not only enlivened by its independent educational setting and its community, but also offers other activities. These include music, dance, movement, and theater for children and young people, as well as holiday camps that are also open to external guests. An event space allows for a variety of events, such as fairy tale and theater performances, concerts, lectures, and festivals.

Gründerherz

An academy is attached to the site. Seminars are offered here for those interested in education, parents, and educators, in an inspiring setting where theory comes to life.

A co-working space invites innovative entrepreneurs who want to support a change in values and the development of schools and education. If interested, they can involve young people, thus creating a unique learning environment for entrepreneurship and team spirit between young and old.
