Principles

Trust

The focus is on trusting in the individual strengths and talents of each person.

The innate instinct to play and natural curiosity are essential driving forces for self-development that must be preserved and strengthened.

Freedom

The free forge is a learning and living space where everyone has the opportunity to organize their time independently and without constraints. Children and young people of all ages freely decide what they want to do, what interests they pursue—how, with whom, what support they seek, and what services they take advantage of.

Responsibility

Only those who can act freely and make their own decisions are capable of learning to take responsibility. Everyone has the opportunity to recognize the consequences of their behavior, both for themselves and for the community, and to learn to take responsibility for their actions.

Freedom and responsibility

Forge your own ideas, projects and dreams

The Free Blacksmiths' basic philosophy is: If you want something, get involved! Get active! Take the initiative!

All members have the opportunity to implement their own ideas and projects and receive support in doing so. They are invited to participate in events, activities, and the coworking space, thus learning entrepreneurial skills at an early stage.

I do it!

Democratic structure

Every member of the community, regardless of age, has equal say and voting rights. The independent blacksmith shop is managed democratically by all members through general meetings. From there, authority and responsibility are delegated.

Democratic education

right

Respectful community living is made possible by rules established jointly by all members. Complaints about rule violations can be discussed in a legal committee; consequences are determined if necessary. The rights of each individual are protected in this committee.

Partnership structure

At this independent educational center, young people between the ages of 5 and approximately 19 spend time together in a consistently mixed-age environment. All members and staff, regardless of age, are equal members of the community. The staff support the young people in implementing their interests, projects, and ideas. A culture of feedback is practiced that fosters personal development and trust.
