the Free Educational Institution
“The Free Forge” in the picturesque Five Lakes region is a
Educational center for children and young people dedicated to the task
committed to actively, creatively and
to help shape life.
Our education and school system no longer meets the needs of the younger generations. Given the major challenges we face, a reorientation is long overdue. How can we, as a society, find ways to preserve the innate curiosity, joy of learning, creativity, and genius of young people? How can we develop a free educational landscape in which individuality and a spirit of cooperation can flourish – instead of coercion, pressure to perform, and competition?
The Free Forge has made it its mission to seriously address these questions and find answers. This innovative educational institution draws on decades of solid experience , including the pioneering Sudbury Valley School project and other proven approaches that emphasize the right to free education. It provides a space for research, development, and experience for a contemporary and future-oriented education in which humanity, creativity, the joy of learning, and responsibility play a central role.
Currently, it is planned as an extracurricular offering with opening hours into the evening. The future goal and direction is to find legal options so that this independent educational institution can serve as an alternative to the institutional school and as a living example and inspiration for other independent educational institutions—including within the framework of an international movement.

Events, creative offers,
Academy, CoWorkingSpace
The Freie Schmiede is not only enlivened by its independent educational setting and its community, but also offers other activities. These include music, dance, movement, and theater for children and young people, as well as holiday camps that are also open to external guests. An event space allows for a variety of events, such as fairy tale and theater performances, concerts, lectures, and festivals.

An academy is attached to the center. It offers seminars and workshops for parents, educators, founders, and educational pioneers who want to explore new avenues, in a place where theory comes alive. This academy also supports a global rethinking of education and an international free education movement.
A co-working space invites innovative entrepreneurs to participate in this social and global educational change, to involve young people if they are interested, and thus to create a unique learning environment for entrepreneurial action and team spirit for young and old.
